The Owners

Gavin is originally from Worcestershire and Angela from Surrey, although both worked in London for several years before moving to Bordeaux with their young family in 1999. Gavin ran the sales for a UK computer company, before helping the business to float on the London Stock Exchange in 1998.  Angela was working for House and Garden magazine.  After he left,  Gavin spent his 'gardening leave' exploring vineyards around the world - more in pursuit of furthering his wine knowledge than with a view to actually buy one - before coming to Bordeaux for Vinexpo in June 1999.  He went to Bauduc to taste the wines and ended up buying the estate, just in time for the harvest.

Most of the production is sold direct to a loyal following of around 3000 private customers, mostly through the Bauduc website and the newsletter, and the Quinneys have their own warehouse near London.  They offer 2-3 day delivery in England, Scotland and Wales.

Location

Château Bauduc is situated in Creon, in Entre deux Mers, where the Quinneys make white, rose, and red wine. Their Bordeaux Blanc Sec 2007 has just been chosen as the house white at Gordon Ramsay's restaurants for the ninth vintage in succession since their first harvest in 1999; a specially made red from Chateau Bauduc, a Bordeaux Superieur listed at £45, was the top selling red in London's only three Michelin star restaurant last year - and the Ramsay sommeliers have just blended their latest private cuvée from Bauduc in March 2008.  The Bordeaux Blanc Sec is also a 'special selection' at Rick Stein's, another of Britain's most famous restaurateurs.
