The Owner

Founding partner of Firth Ross Martin Associates, in 1983 Martin went on to build the firm into one of the UK's leading specialist Executive Search Practices. Then in 1988 he led the Management Team responsible for the foundation of the Blomfield Group and subsequently became Group Chief Executive with responsibility for the strategic development and growth of the firm and its subsidiaries.

He has been involved with Château de Sours since 1997 - joining the Board in 2003 and becoming Proprietor in 2004. Today he spends much of his time in Bordeaux, working closely with Sebastien Lamothe and overseeing the further investment, development and expansion of the Estate. This includes Clos Cantenac a small, but beautiful property that Martin and Sebastien acquired in early 2007. Martin is also a founding director of Pomegranate Wines in Australia.

Location

Château de Sours is situated in Entre deux Mers. Formerly owned by Majestic founder Esme Johnson, Martin bought the property in 2005 and spent two years undertaking extensive renovations in the vineyard and in the property itself. Situated high up on a commanding limestone plateau just to the south-west of Libourne and Pomerol and facing St. Emilion, Château de Sours has been producing wine for over 200 years. Today, the winemakers are leading a renewed Bordeaux interest in top class rosé.

There is also a upscale gite, plus cookery, art and wine courses on offer.

The Wines

La Source rouge and blanc, and Château de Sours rosé wines (still and sparkling) can be purchased 'en primeur' by arrangement with the distributors.
